Data centre growth in Europe:

Europe is on track for an unprecedented expansion in data centre capacity this year, according to new research from CBRE. As a key provider of power testing solutions to the sector, Crestchic has been working hard over recent years to prepare for this growth by investing heavily in its European workforce and production capabilities.

The commercial real estate firm projects that 937 megawatts of new capacity will come online in 2025, a 43% increase from 2024. This surge is being fuelled by growing demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing, despite challenges in securing power and land. ‘The data centre construction boom will continue unabated,’ according to Kevin Restivo, CBRE’s head of European data centre research, highlighting the sector’s resilience despite infrastructure challenges.

Speaking about the research and data centre growth in Europe, Paul Brickman, Commercial Director at Crestchic, commented:

“It comes as no surprise that the data centre sector is growing. Our order books have seen huge demand from the sector in recent years, fuelled by the accelerating pace of digital transformation and the increasing need for resilience in mission-critical infrastructure. We’ve also invested heavily in our European workforce and rental fleets, ensuring we’re well positioned to meet this demand. As demand for power reliability surges, so too does the need for effective testing solutions – our new 200kW load bank is a direct response to this trend, offering a flexible, high-performance solution that is proving extremely popular for both rental and purchase. ”

The newly launched 200kW data centre load bank is designed for integrated systems testing and server hall testing. Its compact footprint makes it an ideal choice for data centre environments where space is at a premium, while its ability to link multiple load banks allows for scalable testing solutions. The unit’s versatility has made it a sought-after addition to Crestchic’s portfolio, with strong demand from both rental and sales customers.

Paul continued, “Crestchic remains committed to supporting the data centre industry as it navigates this period of unprecedented growth. In recent years, we’ve doubled both our workforce and our manufacturing footprint, ensuring that operators have access to the best-in-class load testing solutions required to maintain uptime and efficiency.”
